I LOVE Microgreens!
What are Microgreens?
Microgreens are exquisite miniature plants that are as valuable as precious jewels, bringing "nutrient density" to your every meal! Because the varieties I have selected are for exceptional visual and flavor characteristics, this is to become one green or "complete salad" that will not be pushed around the plate!
Microgreens are exceptionally tender, young seedlings, which are less than 14 days old, and are used by the most selective home-chefs for salads, creative garnishes or flavoring. They are specially selected for their unique flavors or colors. A judicious sprinkling of Microgreens on a plate adds that special “wow!” to a dish, taking it from just plain ordinary to spectacular. They can be used singly, or in combination to add color or flavor to a dish.
Varieties that I LOVE:
Arugula - the wonderful nutty peppery flavor adds a pleasant sharpness to any dish and is a good micro for beginners.
Basil, Sweet - the classic Genovese flavor is even more intense at the seedling stage.
Basil, Thai - the exotic licorice flavors are especially appropriate for Asian or fusion cuisine.
Basil, Purple - similar in flavor to Genovese basil, but with an intriguing red color.
Bull’s Blood Beets - vivid red stems, with reddish green strap shaped leaves and a nice earthy flavor.
Bianca Riccia Endive - beautiful light green leaves and a mild bitter flavor adds nice color and flavor contrast.
Tokyo Bekana Cabbage - sweet, crunchy, a beautiful light green color and intriguing shape.
Celery - a more intensely flavor than stem celery, with beautiful feathery foliage.
Chard, Bright Lights - the multicolored stems add visual intrigue to many dishes.
China Rose Radish - a small pink-stemmed Microgreen with a bold radish flavor.
Collards - a mild flavored dark green garnish for a fun Southern flair.
Cumin - a gentle accenting Microgreen.
Daikon Radish - a large crunchy thick stemmed Microgreen with a nice mild radish flavor.
Garnet Amaranth - a spectacular garnet color draws makes this the crown jewel of our Microgreens collection.
Kohlrabi - a nice earthy flavor similar to spinach and beautiful pink stems and dark green leaves can be used to add lots of visual interest.
Mizuna - a gentle mustard flavor, milder than the Southern or Red Giant varieties.
Southern Giant Mustard - the classic Southern flavor in miniature form.
Tatsoi - a wonderful dark green oriental green in the brassica or broccoli family.
French Sorrel - the unmistakable tangy lemony flavor is heightened at the miniature stage. The distinctive strap-shaped leaves are a welcome change from the usual Microgreens shape.
Pea Vines - the unmistakable flavor of snow peas makes this one of our favorites for garnish or as a salad. It pairs up wonderfully with sesame and soy flavored sauces
Rapini - nice, tangy greens with a versatile flavor that can be paired up with any meat, fish or poultry dish.
Red Giant Mustard - a zippy oriental mustard with reddish overtones

Micro-Lettuce - all shades of greens and red
Mache, Orach, Red Leaf Amaranth and Turnips are also quite wonderful!
Curly Cress - mild radish flavor, fine green threads, make a wonderful “jumbled” presentation on the plate.
Dill - the classic flavor of dill in delicate feathery strands.
Fennel - beautiful feathery strands and the delicate anise flavor are a winner in many dishes.
Purslane - intriguing pink leaves and foliage, distinct crunchy texture and a slight sour tang are delightful at the Microgreen stage and at full size.
